HOW DOES SOCIETY SHAPE WHO WE ARE?
This post continues my series of lectures on sociology. This lecture addresses socialization and identity. It answers the question, how do structural forces shape human identity? This is a really important lesson because it gives a critique of our assumptions about personal issues as being private matters. In many ways, our personalities are shaped by the structures that we inhabit. From this we can intuit that if we want healthy people with healthy identities, we need healthy structures.
Take a look and enjoy.
